Miss Betty Russell

Miss Betty Russell, 61, of Cave Spring, died Friday afternoon, May 19, 2017, in a Rome health care facility following an extended illness.

Miss Russell was born in Rome October 23, 1955 and was the daughter of the late Earl Russell and the late Rosa Lee Studdard Russell. She was a graduate of the Cave Spring High School and attended the Floyd Junior College. For a number of years, Miss Russell coached several girls’ basketball teams from Cave Spring in the Rome-Floyd County Recreational League. Miss Russell was formerly associated with the Rome Answering Service, and prior to ill health with the Kangaroo Convenience Store Company. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cave Spring.

Miss Russell is survived by her sister, Mrs. Martha Jo Brumit of Cave Spring, by 3 nieces, Angela Ford, Lesa Brumit, and Jennifer Lewis; by 3 great-nieces, Brittany Puckett, Ashlee Sharpe, and Chelsea Eubanks, and by 3 great-nephews, Brandon Slaton, Shane Slaton, and Kameron Nichols. Two great-great nieces, Danielle Slaton and Bailey Slaton, and two great-great nephews, Richard Slaton and Gavin Puckett also survive.

Funeral services for Miss Russell were held Sunday afternoon, May 21, 2017, at 4:00 P.M. at John House’s Cave Spring Chapel with Rev. Ben Clements officiating. Interment followed in the family lot of the Cave Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers included Ray Gresham, Doug Russell, Kenneth Beegle, and Jimmy Beegle.

The family received friends from 2:00 P.M. until the funeral hour.
