Mrs. Catherine Lowery, 69, of Cave Spring, died Monday morning, January 11, 2016 in a Rome hospital following an extended illness. The former Catherine Jane McAfee, Mrs. Lowery was born in Rome July 18, 1946, the daughter of the late Roy Henry McAfee and the late Shirley Johnson McAfee. A 1964 graduate of the Cave Spring High School, she was a lifelong member of the Cedar Creek Baptist Church. Prior to ill health, Mrs. Lowery was a route supervisor for Valley Vend Foods. Besides her parents, Mrs. Lowery was preceded in death by her brother, James. Roy McAfee. Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Bill Lowery, to whom she was married November 4, 1967, and by her son, Chad Lowery and his wife Beth of Morehead, Kentucky. Four grandsons, Michah Lowery, Dakota Lowery, Isaac Donehue, and Ethan Lowery, one grand-daughter Brianna Lowery, and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Lowery were held Thursday, January 14, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at the Cedar Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Lodge officiating. Interment followed in the family lot of the Cave Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers included her grandsons, Michah Lowery, Dakota Lowery, Isaac Donehue, and Ethan Lowery along with Kenyan Gillespie, Doyle Young, Dustin Young and James Wright. The family received friends at John House’s Cave Spring Chapel Funeral Home Wednesday evening, January 13, 2016 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
