Mrs. Mary Jo Posey, 88, of Cave Spring, died Friday morning, February 3, 2017, at her residence. The former Mary Jo Dill, Mrs. Posey was born in Altoona, Alabama, December 17, 1928, the oldest child of the late Frank Dill and the late Pearl Madderra Dill. A member of the Cave Spring United Methodist Church, Mrs. Posey was a graduate of Jacksonville State University and had made her home in Cave Spring since 1967 when she started teaching at the Cave Spring Elementary School. Mrs. Posey was married to R. B. Posey October 11, 1957, and was preceded in death by him June 8, 2002. Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Posey was also preceded in death by a grandson, Zack Notestine on January 28, 2017; by her brother, J. F. Dill, and by a sister, Mrs. Pansy Meadows. Survivors include two daughters, Ms. Lori Posey of Douglas, Alaska, and Ms. Claire Rising of Cave Spring. Two grandsons, Brandon Rising and Brice Rising, both of Atlanta, and a sister, Ms. Patsy Dill of Sylacauga, Alabama,also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Posey were held Sunday afternoon, February 5, 2017, at 4:00 P.M. at the Cave Spring United Methodist Church with Dr. John Page officiating. Interment followed in the family lot of the Cave Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers included Alvin Coursey, Kaine Coursey, Colby Coursey, Barry Keane, Jamie Carter, and Bean Jackson. The family received friends at the church Sunday from 2:00 P.M. until the funeral hour. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cave Spring United Methodist Church.
