Mrs. Virginia D. Smith

Mrs. Virginia D. Smith, 82, of Cave Spring, formerly of Cedartown, died Friday morning, October 27, 2017, at her home following an extended illness.

Virginia Tinsley Ridgeway Smith was born September 13, 1935, in Alabama, a daughter of the late Ben Tinsley and the late Alma Wheeler Tinsley. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith.

Besides her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by two sons, Tony Ridgeway and Marty Ridgeway; by a daughter, Mrs. Kay Raper; by a grandson, Jason Ridgeway; by a grand daughter Kayla Ridgeway; and by two brothers, Edward Tinsley and Clyde Tinsley.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Jimmy Smith, to whom she was married January 30, 1987; by a daughter, Mrs. Kim Cantrell and her husband Dennis of Cave Spring; by a son, Roger Ridgeway of Cave Spring; by a step son, Glenn Smith and his wife Angie of Villa Rica, and by a step daughter, Mrs. Amy Sutton and her husband Steve of Douglasville. Two brothers, J. B. Tinsley of Collinsville, and Ray Tinsley of Center, thirteen grandchildren, twenty six great-grand children, and three great-great-grandchildren also survive.

Committal services for Mrs. Smith were held Saturday, October 28, 2017, at the Mausoleum of the Polk Memory Gardens at 3:00 P.M. with Heath Crosby officiating. Pallbearers included Steve Raper, Andrew Raper, Heath Crosby, Jake Youngblood, Allen Youngblood, and Spencer Youngblood.

The family received friends at the funeral home Saturday afternoon from 2:00 P.M. until 2:30 P.M.
