William Thomas (Tom) Gibb, 62, of Cave Spring, died Thursday afternoon, March 9, 2017 following an extended illness. Mr. Gibb was born in West Palm Beach November 27, 1954, a son of Margaret Anne Myers Gibb and the late Charles Stephenson Gibb. Mr. Gibb was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, and had made his home in Cave Spring for a number of years. He was associated with the Georgia Kraft Sawmill Division, and had retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation. Mr. Gibb was fond of hunting, saw-milling, and nature and was often referred to as “Mountain Man.” Besides his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Gibb. Mr. Gibb is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Deborah Clark, and Ms. Cynthia Gibb, both of Thomaston; by three grandchildren, Taylor Allen, MacKenzie Clark, and Ethan Gibb; by a great-grandson, Trustyn Clay; by his brother, Gerry Gibb of Fort Valley; and by his sister, Mrs. Pam Guined of Reynolds. His mother, Mrs. Margaret Anne (Peggy) Gibb of Mauk, Ga.; his companion and best friend, Mrs. Betty Jean Colston Garner of Centre; the mother of his children, Mrs. Patricia Ann Gibb of Thomaston; his aunt, Mrs. Delilah Rose (Lulu) McCune of Mauk and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial services for Mr. Gibb were held Sunday afternoon, March 12, 2017 at 3:00 P. M. EDT at John House’s Cave Spring Chapel with his brother Gerry Gibb officiating. The family received friends at the funeral home Sunday from 2:00 P.M. EDT until the service hour. Mr. Gibbs ashes were interred at the Andersonville National Cemetery in Andersonville, Georgia.
