James Lonnie (Jim) Dunn, 86, of Cave Spring, died unexpectedly Friday evening, January 19, 2024 in a Rome hospital following a very short illness.
Mr. Dunn was born in Candler County, Georgia June 15, 1937, a son of the late Lonnie Leo Dunn and the late Fannie Lou Edenfield Dunn. Mr. Dunn came to Rome at an early age, and was a graduate of the Berry School. After high school, he went to work for the Georgia Power Company working on high line transmissions. After a brief time at the Celanese Company, he went back to Georgia Power, rising through the ranks through the years to become an Electrical Team Leader and after years of service, he retired in 1992 as a Building and Grounds Supervisor.
Mr. Dunn had made his home in Cave Spring since 1978 and became a staple of the community. Mr. Dunn was married to the former Judy Ann Knopp, and was preceded in death by her December 24, 2015. Besides his wife and parents, he was also preceded by a son, Drew Dunn, and by his two sisters, Naomi and DeWees
He is survived by his children and grand-children.
Funeral services for Mr. Dunn were held Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at the graveside of the Round Hill Cemetery with Rev. Dale Byars officiating.
The family received friends at the funeral home Monday afternoon, January 22, 2024 from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M.
