Mr. Bobby Wheeler, 85, of Cave Spring, died Friday afternoon, November 17, 2023 in a Rome hospital following an illness of a few weeks.
A life long resident of Floyd County, Bobby Duel Wheeler was born November 29, 1937, a son of the late O. N. Wheeler and the late Sarah Lee Beavers Wheeler. He was a graduate of the Cave Spring High School, and was employed by the Sears and Roebuck Company for over 40 years, retiring as their warehouse manager.
Mr. Wheeler was a member and Deacon of the Mountain Home Baptist Church.
Mr. Wheeler loved his family and his church. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Wheeler and Glenn Wheeler.
Mr. Wheeler is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mrs. Carolyn Lee McDowell Wheeler, to whom he was married May 30, 1957 and by one daughter, Mrs. Karen Couch and her husband Wayne of Cave Spring. Four grandchildren, Raven Hatch, Kayne Wheeler Couch, Jinny Gresham, and Lynleigh Couch and one brother, Franklin Davis (Butch) Wheeler also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Wheeler were held Sunday afternoon, November 19, 2023 at 3:00 P.M. at the Mountain Home Baptist Church with his pastor Rev. Anthony Trawick officiating. Interment followed in the family lot of the Cave Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers included John Cody, Mark Cody, Kayne Couch, Jeff Wheeler, Cody Wheeler and Keith Vaughn. The Men’s Adult Sunday School Class of Mountain Home Baptist Church served as honorary pallbearers.
The family received friends at the church from 2:00 P.M. until the service hour Sunday afternoon.
