Mr. Ryan Joseph Lindsey, 30 of Cave Spring, son of Larry and Sandra Lindsey, died Saturday evening, July 1, 2017 in an Atlanta hospital following a brief illness.

Funeral services for Ryan were held Wednesday evening, July 5, 2017 at 7:00 P.M. at John House’s Cave Spring Chapel with Rev. Chris Johnson and Dr. Robin Lindsey officiating. Interment services were held Thursday morning, July 6, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the graveside of the Cave Spring Cemetery with Dr. Robin Lindsey officiating.  Pallbearers included Drew Ware, Keith Hill, Jack Hill, Dan Cox, Chad Cox, Lindsey Evans, and Jeremy Hillard.

The family received friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 5:00 P.M. until the service hour.

Ryan was born in Rome June 14, 1987, a son of Larry and Sandra Bankson Linsdey. He attended Cave Spring Elementary, Coosa Middle School, and was a graduate of Coosa High School. Ryan also attended Georgia Highlands, Jacksonville State College, and Northwest Georgia Technical College.

Ryan grew up doing what all little boys do. He played T Ball and Little League sports. His favorite things to do were Riding his four- wheeler and playing with his friends and cousins. Ryan loved deer hunting with his Dad and brother and got his first deer at age 12. When Ryan was 13 he wanted to be a cowboy and ride horses. Sonny, Ryan’s beautiful horse, was a surprise Christmas present. Ryan was just learning to ride and Sonny was a two- year old, barely broke, but he and Ryan learned together.

Ryan’s next love was his new Toyota truck that he got for his sixteenth birthday. It was the best day ever when he and Mom went truck shopping for a used truck and Mom said let’s get the new one. With a new truck and girlfriends, Sonny was soon spending more time in the pasture. He is still with us.

Ryan was always ready for a new adventure. When a high school teacher offered to teach him Fly Fishing, he was right on it. He became an Orvis certified instructor at age 18. He gave lessons at Barnsley Gardens Resort and was a River Guide in Blue Ridge Ga. He also loved his Florida Fishing trips with friends.

A true sportsman, Ryan fell in love with a Chocolate Lab pup that he named Browning. Just like with Sonny, they grew and learned together. Ryan learned the skill of dog training and Browning proved to be a willing student. Duck hunting soon became a new passion for Ryan and his dogs. Ryan was heartbroken when he lost Browning to an accident. Toby came next and with Ryan’s training skills he became an amazing hunting dog, as did his son Jack, who was being trained to step up as Toby aged. Toby and Jack will miss Ryan.

Always one to get involved, Ryan was part of the Explorer program with the Cave Spring Fire Department and later became a Volunteer Firefighter. As a member of Ducks Unlimited he was an Event Committee member as early as age 16. He evolved with the organization to become Co-Chairman of the Event in 2013 and Co-Area Chairman in 2014. Ryan led the local chapter as Area Chairman 2015 to 2017. Ryan never did anything halfway and with this leadership role he gave his all. He was recognized in the organization for his accomplishments.

Ryan was always a gun enthusiast. He loved collecting them and target and clay shooting. Most recently he took on the task of custom building an AR15. He surprised his Dad for Father’s Day with one custom built just for him. While Ryan was still in high school, he started working with his Dad in the family business, Evans Parts at Coosa. Ryan soon took on some management and administrative duties and Dad was glad to let him do it. He loved the customers and the Coosa Community.

Ryan loved his hometown of Cave Spring and he was loved by all who knew him. Most of all he loved his family. He admired and looked up to his older brother, Marcus, and he made his parents very proud. His love for his niece Ella Bleu was enormous. He made sure she could say Uncle Ryan as soon as she could talk and he would bribe her with treats to say he was her Favorite.

Ryan was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Wayne C. Lindsey and Mary Cox Lindsey, and by his maternal grandparents, Joe Hall and Barbara Myers Hall. He is survived by his parents, Larry and Sandra Lindsey of Cave Spring and by his brother, Marcus Lindsey and his wife Vanessa of Acworth. His niece, Ella Bleu Lindsey, and a number of cousins, aunts and uncles also survive.

He will forever be in our hearts.
