Mrs. Barbara Wilson, 57, of County Road 22, Centre, died unexpectedly Sunday morning in a Rome hospital.

The former Barbara Brown, Mrs. Wilson was born in Rome on January 5, 1960, daughter of Mrs. Chloe Cannon Brown Dollar and the late Wallace Brown.

Mrs. Wilson was associated with the Floyd County Board of Education where she had served as secretary to the Superintendent, then to the Director of Transportation, and prior to her retirement she had served as secretary at Cave Spring Elementary.  Mrs. Wilson was a member of the Stateline Baptist Church.

Mrs. Wilson is survived by her husband, Keith Wilson, to whom she was married June 23, 1979; by her daughter, Mrs. Valerie W. Martin and her husband Drew of Centre; by her son, Matthew Wilson of Hamilton, Alabama; and by five grandchildren, Vana Martin, Ellie Martin, Rosalee Martin, Rylan Wilson and Layton Wilson.  Her mother, Mrs. Chloe Dollar of Rome, three brothers, Terry Brown of Rome, Greg Brown of Marietta, Randy Dollar of Woodstock, her sister, Mrs. Angela Brock of Calhoun and several nieces and nephews also survive. 

Funeral services for Mrs. Wilson were held Wednesday afternoon, April 19, 2017, at 2:00 P.M. EDT at John House's Cave Spring Chapel with Rev. Chris Hearne and Rev. Calvin Yarbrough officiating.  Interment followed in the Cherokee Memorial Gardens in Centre.  Pallbearers included Jimbo Weaver, Lester Tierce, Dooby Dobbs, Brent Terry, Jason Brown, Justin Brown, Greyson Wilson, and John Gildee,

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M. EDT.
