Robert Donald Rose, Jr., age 70, of Rome, died unexpectedly Sunday afternoon, November 19, 2017 in a Rome hospital following a short illness.

Mr. Rose was born in Rochester, New York, August 29, 1947, son of the late Robert Donald Rose, Sr., and the late Nelle Martin Rose. A 1965 graduate of Coosa High School, Mr. Rose was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, having served two tours of duty in Vietnam. After his service, he was associated with Inland Container Company, where he retired after 30 years as a quality assurance supervisor. After his retirement from Inland, Mr. Rose went on to work several years at Rome Tool and Die.

Mr. Rose was Scout Master for Troup 4 at the West Rome Christian Church for a number of years, and was a member of the Christian Church at Rome, formerly the West Rome Christian Church. Besides his parents, Mr. Rose was preceded in death by an infant son, David Michael Rose, and by an infant daughter, Tasia Rose.

Survivors include his wife, the former Elizabeth Stewart, to whom he was married March 13, 1977, and by his son, Erik Rose and his wife Leslie of Rome. His brother, Ronnie Rose and his wife Gay of California, a brother-in-law, Quillian Stewart and his wife Anita or Rome, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Linda Stewart Byars and her husband James of Ball Ground and a number of loving nieces and nephews also survive.

A time to celebrate Mr. Rose's life is being planned for Sunday afternoon at 2:00 P.M. at Schroder's New Deli in Armuchee. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to the Boy Scouts of America.
