Emerson Mack Abbott, Sr., 53, of Cave Spring, died Saturday afternoon, June 5, 2021, in a Rome hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Mr. Abbott was born July 27, 1967 in Rome, Georgia, son of Mrs. Lorene Hicks Abbott and the late William Thomas Abbott, Sr. Mr. Abbot was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, worked with his father as a tree surgeon and as an electrician for 20 years, and had also been associated with Joe Hill’s Lawnmower Shop for a number of years. Mr. Abbott was of the Baptist faith, and enjoyed cooking and helping anyone he could.
Mr. Abbott was preceded in death by his father, and by a sister Mrs. LaDonda Yother.
Survivors include his wife, the former Linda Elrod, to whom he was married February 14, 1991; his children, Emerson Mack Abbott, Jr., Britaneca Hendrix of Cedartown, Jacob Abbott and his fiancé Della Robinson of Rome, and Cody Abbott of Cave Spring; and six grandchildren. His mother, Mrs. Lorene Abbott of Rome and his siblings, William Thomas Abbott, Jr. and his wife Elaine of Oneona, AL., James Abbott and his wife Ann of Dawsonville, Richard Abbott and his wife Cathy of Cedartown, Pam French of Rainbow City, AL., and Susie Parker of Centre, AL. also survive.
In keeping with his wishes, Mr. Abbott was cremated and no formal services are planned.
Family and friends gathered at the residence Wednesday afternoon, June 9, 2021 for a cookout and a time of memories in honor of Mr. Abbott.
