Mr. Eric Dwayne Hestely, 52, of Cave Spring, died unexpectedly Tuesday morning, July 11, 2023 at his parent’s residence.
Eric was born January 28, 1971 in Rome, a son of Larry C. Hestely and Patricia Lindsey Hestely. Eric grew up in Cave Spring where he knew everyone and loved visiting with neighbors and towns people, as well as total strangers. He made friends with everyone he met.
In his early years he enjoyed all the same things as the other local boys. T Ball and Baseball were favorite sports and being coached by Dad was a good thing. He was a member of Live Oak Baptist Church and looked forward to attending each week.
Later he developed a love for music and radios. A great Big Boom Box was always an easy gift to give Eric. An avid CB radio enthusiast, Eric was able to make friends across the waves and highways as he picked up conversations with local and non- local truckers. This was one of his favorite past times.
As with most young men, his first car was his first love. A classic 1972 Chevy Monte Carlo was the envy of many as Eric proudly drove it to Cedartown High School and around town. His second love was the shiny red Ford Ranger pick up that replaced the Monte Carlo.
After graduation from High School in 1990, Eric worked with his Dad at Mayfield Dairies for 12 years until health issues forced him to leave his beloved job. In his later years, as his health continued to decline, he was lovingly cared for by his parents.
He loved Big in every way, especially his family. His parents and younger brother, Matt, became his world as well as his Nanny and MeeMaw. His aunts, uncles and cousins were all very special to Eric and he never failed to say I Love You whenever any came to visit. For his entire life Eric Hestely loved with a child-like innocence and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Eric was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Mary C. Lindsey; by his paternal grandparents, Clyde Edward Hestely and Mamie Carlton Hestely; by his maternal grandfather, Wayne C. Lindsey; by a special uncle Larry Evans; and by a cousin, Ryan Joseph Lindsey
Eric is survived by his parents, Larry and Patricia Hestely and by his brother Matthew Carlton Hestely, all of Cave Spring. Several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
Funeral services for Eric were held Friday afternoon, July 14, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at John House’s Cave Spring Chapel with Revs. Dale Byars and Buddy Carter officiating. Interment followed in the Cave Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers included Travis Smith, Bradley Smith, Lindsey Evans, Marcus Lindsey, Steve Dobbs, Matthew Avery and James Yarbrough.
