Former Cave Spring Mayor Bobby Gene George, Sr., 84, of Cave Spring, died Saturday evening, February 20, 2021 in a Rome hospital.
Mr. George was a native of Cave Spring, and was born November 6, 1936, a son of the late Judson Marion George and the late Lucy Melvina Brock George. Mr. George was a graduate of the Cave Spring High School, was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cave Spring and the Mackey Lodge #120 F. & A. M. Mr. George was also a former Jaycee when he lived in the Acworth area for several years. Mr. George served on the Cave Spring City Council and also as Mayor, and he had owned and operated Apple Tree Antiques and the Apple Tree Nursery and Landscaping Company for a number of years prior to his retirement.
Mr. George was married to the former Mary Frances Wiggins May 6, 1956, and was preceded in death by her October 30, 2004. Besides his wife and parents, Mr. George was also preceded by five brothers, Billy George, Harvey George, Moody George, Joe Allen George and Julius George.
Survivors include one son, Bobby George, Jr. and his wife Kim of Rome, and one daughter, Mrs. Ann Dean and her husband Chuck of Ashtabula, Ohio. Five grandsons, Josh (Jamie) Dean, Jake Dean, Kegan Dean and Andrew Dean, all of Ashtabula, and Robby George of Rome, and one sister, Mrs. Janie McAbee of Rome also survive.
Private graveside services for the family of Mr. George were held Thursday, February 25, 2021 at the Cave Spring Cemetery with Rev. Dale Byars officiating.
