Mr. Bobby Terry Obituary

Mr. Bobby Gene Terry, 73, of Gaylesville, Alabama, died Saturday afternoon, October 10, 2020 at his residence following an extended illness.

A native of Floyd County, Mr. Terry was born March 13, 1947, a son of the late John Stephen Terry and the late Eunice Pledger Terry. He was a graduate of the Cave Spring High School, where he excelled in track and field athletics, setting several school records, and was a state champion in long jump. A veteran of the Vietnam War, Mr. Terry served as a Staff Sergeant in the U. S. Army. Mr. Terry was associated with Southern Bell and AT&T as a lineman. He was a member of the State Line Baptist Church, and he enjoyed fishing, gardening, arrowhead hunting, metal detecting and the history of things he found.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Means, by four brothers, Harold Terry, Harlin Terry, Allen Terry and Jimmy Terry and by a sister, Shirley Terry.

Mr. Terry is survived by his wife, Nancy Terry of Gaylesville; by two sons, Brent Terry and his wife Angie of Cave Spring, and J. R. Smith of Gaylesville; by a daughter, Mrs. Melodie Noyes and her husband Nick of Cave Spring; and by four grandchildren, Lexi Terry, Blaine Terry, Ripley Means and Mia Smith. One sister, Mrs. Elsie Haigwood of Social Circle, a brother, Billy Terry and his wife Becky of McCord’s Crossroads, a sister in law, Mrs. Dean Terry of Cave Spring, a brother in law, Dennis Pledger of Cave Spring, and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Terry will be held Monday, October 12, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. EDT at the graveside of the State Line Cemetery with Rev. Dale Byars officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the State Line Cemetery Fund, 155 County Road 482, Centre, Alabama, 35960.
