Obituary

On Friday, January 28, 2023, Earl Gene Lindsey, loving father and grandfather, passed away at the age of 85.

Earl (or Two Ton as his childhood friends called him) was born in Cherokee County, Alabama on August 17, 1937, a son of the late J.D. Lindsey and the late Annie Ruth Chapman Lindsey. He attended Cave Spring High School and earned a degree from Georgia Tech. He lived for many years in Montgomery, AL, working for the Department of Rehabilitation Services and eventually rising to Director of Deaf Services.

Mr. Lindsey is survived by his daughter Karen Smith and her husband Kelly; grandchildren Laura Smith (Mounir Nessim), Jessie Smith, and Sam Smith; former wife Sandra Royster, and brother Gerald Lindsey (Reba). He was preceded in death by his siblings Dewell Lindsey, Shelton Lindsey, Wayne Lindsey, and Reba Mason.

The family received friends at John House’s Cave Spring Chapel on Saturday, Feb 4th from 2:00 til 3:30 PM. There was a private interment at the Cave Spring Cemetery.

The family requests memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Association in lieu of flowers.
