Mr. James Edward (Ed) West, 81, of Cave Spring, died Sunday morning at his residence.
Mr. West was born in Marietta, Georgia July 11, 1940, a son of the late James Franklin West and the late Roxie Mae Patterson West. Mr. West was a veteran, having served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of and retired from the Communications Workers of America Union where he was a supervisor over Fiber Optic installations. He and his wife attended both Baptist and Methodist churches through the years.
Besides his parents, Mr. West was preceded in death by a brother, Alford LeRoy Williams.
Survivors include his wife, the former Judy Mercer, to whom he was married April 29, 1999; by his children, Jason Edward (Bridgett) West, Mrs. Janna Elaine (Greg) Webb, Ms. Sunshine Bitner, and James Henderson, all of Cave Spring, and 14 grandchildren, Olivia Lynn West, Hannah Elaine West, Mary Katherine West, Hayden Smith, Kaleigh Smith, Will Cox, Weston Cox, Justin Webb, Austin Webb, Mason Webb, Zachery Henderson, Alisa Henderson, Jada Bitner and Ryan Bitner. A great-grandson, Luke Webb, and three sisters, Mrs. Hazel Kathlene Bonner of Acworth, Mrs. Willie Mae Honea of Marietta, and Mrs. Barbra Jean Bailey of Cave Spring also survive.
A service to celebrate Mr. West’s life will be held Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at 2:00 P.M. at John House’s Cave Spring Chapel with Rev. Jason Willis officiating.
Military Honors will be extended by the Honor Guard of the Shanklin-Attaway Post 5 of the American Legion.
Flowers will be accepted, or those wishing may send memorials to either the Wounded Warrior Project or to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from noon until the service hour.
