Mr. Jerry Dean Cornelius, 81, U. S. Army, Ret., of Humble, Texas, died Wednesday morning, January 1, 2020 in a Humble area hospital.
Mr. Cornelius was born in Altus, Oklahoma October 10, 1938, a son of the late Wilson Cornelius and late Fay Cornelius. Mr. Cornelius was a career member of the U.S. Army, having served his country from 1958 until 1983.
Mr. Cornelius was preceded in death by his wife, the former Patricia Casey in 2001; by a son, Ford Cornelius in 2015; and by a brother Merel Cornelius in 2011.
Mr. Cornelius is survived by three sons, Brian Cornelius, Christopher Cornelius and his wife Kelsey, and David Cornelius and his wife Trina; by his daughter, Annastasia Cornelius; and by one brother, Derel Cornelius and his wife Linda. Five grandchildren, Ashley Powers, Lauren Sciortino, Andreu Cornelius, Connor Armstrong, and Christopher Cornelius, Jr.; four great-grandchildren, John Richardson, III, Brendan George, Hunter George, and Rhett Powers; and a several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Cornelius will be held Tuesday afternoon, January 7, 2020, at 2:00 P.M. at John House’s Cave Spring Chapel with Rev. Dale Byars officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Cave Spring Cemetery. Full military honors will be provided by the U. S. Army.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 1:00 P.M. until the service hour.
