Larry Doyl Taylor of Cave Spring died Tuesday morning, August 31, 2021, one day short of his 75th birthday.
Mr. Taylor was born in Rome, September 1, 1946, son of the late Doyl Taylor and the late Francis Wilson Taylor. He was a graduate of the Cave Spring High School and Coosa Valley Tech. Mr. Taylor was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served as a Staff Sargent in the Vietnam War era. Mr. Taylor had owned Taylor’s Grocery in Cave Spring, and B and C Sporting Goods. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Taylor was associated with the Davis Core and Pad Company of Cave Spring as the maintenance supervisor. He was of the Presbyterian faith.
Survivors include his wife, the former Melody Lamb, to whom he was married May 1, 1968, and by two sons, Ben Taylor and his wife Tonya of Rome, and Chad Taylor and his wife Tawny of Cave Spring. Two grandchildren, Second Lieutenant Drew Taylor, USAF, stationed in Wichita, Nebraska, and Sydney Taylor of Rome; and his sister, Luan Reed and her husband Gary of Cave Spring also survive.
In keeping with his wishes, Mr. Taylor was cremated and no formal services are planned due to Covid-19. A family prayer service was held Thursday evening, September 2, 2021 at their home.
