Battalion Chief Rick Cagle, Rome Fire Department (retired) age 68, of Cave Spring, died unexpectedly Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at his residence.
Rickey Jack Cagle was born in Brunswick, Georgia on July 6, 1953, a son of the late Jack Clay Cagle and the late Shirley Ruth Medlin Cagle. He was a graduate of the Glynn Academy in Brunswick and received an Associates Degree from Floyd Junior College. Mr. Cagle joined the Rome Fire Department in November of 1980, and he retired from there in November of 2011 after 31 years of service. He was also associated with the Cave Spring Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife, the former Barbara Redden, to whom he was married April 24, 1988, and two sons, Jesse (Haley) Cagle of Roswell and Dustin Ferguson of Cave Spring. Three brothers, John (Anne) Cagle of Lindale, Craig Gilley of Jonesboro, and Jerry Gilley of Traveler's Rest, S.C. and four sisters, Mrs. Deanna (Al) Davis of Byron, Ms. Romelle Gilley of Cumming, Mrs. Cindy Manor of Blue Ridge and Mrs. Veronica Crockett of Newnan also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Cagle were held Sunday afternoon, March 27, 2022, at 4:00 P.M. at John House’s Cave Spring Chapel with Chaplain Don Bullard officiating. Interment followed in the Cave Spring Cemetery. The Honor Guard of the Rome Fire Department served as active and honorary pallbearers, and had charge of the graveside rites.
The family received friends at the funeral home Sunday afternoon from 2:00 P.M. until the funeral hour.
