Our beloved Emory Wayne Chambers, 78, of Ooltewah, Tennessee, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2022.
Mr. Chambers was born in Rome September 14, 1943, son of the late Emory Lee Chambers and the late Sybil Lee West Chambers. His mother passed away when he was very young and he was raised by his grandparents, the late John Thomas West and the late Mary McCord West, along with his aunts, Doris Williamon and Eula Mae West. He graduated from Cave Spring High School in 1962. After graduation, he worked for the Lindale-Pepperell Mill for several years prior to moving to Dalton. In 1973 he founded CustomCarpets in Dalton, owning it for some 25 years prior to his retirement. Mr. Chambers was also a hair stylist in Dalton for a number of years. He was the type of fellow that enjoyed playing the piano, being with people, and making them laugh and feel good.
Survivors include his life companion and business partner, Gary Arnold and one grandson Robert Gaston. He is also survived by a number of cousins, Kathy Russell, Buddy West, Donny Williamon, Mitchell Williamon, Tommy Trotter, Billy Trotter, Brenda Blalock, Sybol Whorton, Betty Sue Cornett, Joan Dill, Carol Deal, and sister like cousins Sandra West Parris and June Williamon Huckaby. Wayne loved his family very much and through him many of us were able to stay in touch with each other.
