Mrs. Betty J. KcKay, 87, of Centre, Alabama, died Saturday evening, September 12, 2020, in a Rome hospital.
The former Betty Jo Grogan, Mrs. McKay was born December 22, 1932 in Lineville, Alabama, a daughter of the late Henry Dewell Grogan and the late Mary Ellender Smith Grogan.
Over a span of several years, Mrs. McKay and her husband built their home together just outside of Cave Spring, and made their home there for many years. She had been active member of the Cave Spring United Methodist Church for over 40 years.
Mrs. McKay was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Julius Benson (Buddy) McKay on December 29, 2009, by her sister, Mrs. Helen J. Grogan Carr, and by her brother, Charles W. Grogan.
Survivors include her son, Michael B. McKay, and his wife Melody of Hendersonville, NC and her daughter, Miss Rebecca S. McKay of Centre. Two grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
In keeping with her wishes, Mrs. McKay was cremated. Memorial services for Mrs. McKay were held Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at the Cave Spring United Methodist Church with Dr. John Page officiating.
