Mrs. Charlotte Poff, 84, of Marietta, died Saturday, March 7, 2020, in a Marietta area care facility following an extended illness.
The former Charlotte Virginia Broome, Mrs. Poff was born in Cave Spring December 15, 1935, a daughter of the late James Henry Broome and the late Agnes Hughes Broom. Mrs. Poff was married to Charles D. (Danny) Poff, and they made their home in the Acworth area for a number of years, he having preceded her in death January 12, 2014. Mrs. Poff was a home maker and dog groomer, and she was a member of the Christ Gospel Church of Rome, where she had served as church secretary. Prior to ill health, she enjoyed family, church, grooming dogs, baking, and gardening.
Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Poff was preceded in death by one son, Harry Wheeler; by two brothers, James Broome and William Broome, and by a sister, Mrs. Marie Nelson.
Survivors include four sons, Charles Daniel Poff, Jr. and Jennifer of Kennesaw, Bruce Wheeler of Anniston, Ala., Bradley McNabb and Patricia of Rome, and David Wheeler and Debra of Rome; and two daughters, Janeece Wheeler and Denise Tidwell, both of Rome. Thirteen grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild, one brother, Gary Broome and Jeanne of Rome, and three sisters, Mrs. Helen Parker of Trustville, Ala., Mrs. Betty Jean Oneill of Macon, and Mrs. Brenda Carrington of Cedar Bluff, Ala. also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Poff were held Thursday morning, March 12, 2020 at 11:00 A. M. at John House's Cave Spring Chapel with Rev. Rocky Calvert officiating. Interment followed in the family lot of the Cave Spring Cemetery.
The family received friends at the funeral home Thursday morning from 10:00 A. M. until the service hour.
