Mrs. Diane Smith

Mrs. Diane Smith, 69, of Aragon, died Sunday afternoon, May 15, 2022 in a Rome hospital.

The former Helen Diane Wood, Mrs. Smith was born in Anniston, Alabama March 26, 1953, a daughter of Mrs. Barbara Jean Cotton Wood and the late J. H. “Bud” Wood. She was a 1972 graduate of the Cave Spring High School, and was employed for several years by the Arrow Shirt Company in Cedartown. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Flint Hill Baptist Church.

Besides her father, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by a brother, Jeffery Wood.

She is survived by her husband, Martin Roy Smith, to whom she was married April 10, 1976; by her mother, Mrs. Barbara Wood of Cave Spring; by two brothers Anthony (Patsy) Wood of Centre, and Tracy (Misty) Wood of Rome; and by her sister, Lisa Thomas of Cedartown. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

The family received friends at the funeral home Thursday afternoon, May 19, 2022 from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.  A graveside service followed in the family lot of the Providence Cemetery. Rev. Anthony Trawick and Rev. Don Spears will officiate.
