Mrs. Evelyn Montgomery Obituary

Mrs. Evelyn Montgomery, age 80, of Cave Spring, died Wednesday morning, April 6, 2022 in Cave Spring following an extended illness.

The former Martha Evelyn Barker, she was born in Floyd County, April 16, 1941, a daughter of the late Alonzo Barker and the late Addie Estelle Fowler Barker. She was a graduate of the Johnson High School, and was a member of the Rehoboth Baptist Church, the East Floyd Eastern Star Chapter #501, the Wildlife Club and the Cave Spring Ruritan and enjoyed collecting antiques, gardening an shopping. Mrs. Montgomery was retired from Steel King Industries and Good Shepherd Funeral Home.

Besides her parents, Mrs. Montgomery was preceded in death by her husband, William Twiggs Montgomery, Jr. on October 29, 2016; by three brothers, Lonnie Barker, Eugene Barker, and William Barker, and by three sisters, Mrs. Frances Worthington, Ms. Helen Barker and Ms. Juanita Barker.

Survivors include her son, David Montgomery and her daughter, Mrs. Diane Montgomery Minter and her husband Joe; and her chosen daughter, Sandra Manning, all of Cave Spring. Her grand-daughter, Mrs. Jessica Agan (Sky King); two great-grandchildren, Jasper King and Jett King; a brother in law, Glenn Montgomery, all of Cave Spring; a sister in law, Ms. Sharon Barker of Rome; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Montgomery were held Sunday afternoon, April 10, 2022, at 4:00 P.M. at the Rehoboth Baptist Church with Rev. Dale Byars officiating.  Interment followed in the family lot of the Rehoboth Community Cemetery.  Pallbearers included Rip Montgomery, Lamar Montgomery, Glenn Montgomery, Curt Burch, Sky King and Donnie Sutton. 

The family received friends at the church Sunday afternoon from 2:00 P.M. until the service hour.
