Mrs. Melodie Taylor, 73, of Rome, and formerly of Cave Spring, died unexpectedly Saturday evening, February 25, 2023 at her residence.
The former Melodie Elaine Lamb, Mrs. Taylor was born on the Eglin Air Force Base in Okaloosa County, Florida on April 5, 1949, a daughter of the late Raymond L. Lamb and the late Fannie Roselle Coggins Lamb. Mrs. Taylor had made her home in Cave Spring for a number of years, and was a Court Reporter for the Floyd County Courts from 1987 until her retirement in 2021 and was of the Catholic faith.
Mrs. Taylor was a giving person, having donated many times to various causes in the Cave Spring Community, whether being an un-named sponsor of a baseball or football uniform, cleats, or shoes for school, many things were given with an open heart. She loved her family and her grandchildren, and looked forward to cooking for family gatherings.
She was married to Larry Doyle Taylor May 1, 1968, and was preceded in death by him August 31, 2021.
Besides her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Lamb and Richard Lamb.
Mrs. Taylor is survived by two sons, Ben (Tonya) Taylor of Rome and Chad (Tawny) Taylor or Cave Spring; and by two grandchildren, Second Lieutenant Drew Taylor, USAF and Sydney Taylor. Two brothers, Jim (Margaret) Lamb of Sarasota, Fla., and Mark (Debbie) Lamb of Franklin, N.C. and one sister, Mrs. Cindy (Frank) Moseley of Fairhope, Alabama also survive.
The family will receive friends at John House’s Cave Spring Chapel Funeral Home Friday evening, March 3, 2021 from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M.
