Mr. Stephen David “Steve” Ball, 58, of Rome, died Friday evening, April 22, 2016 in a Rome hospital following a short illness. Mr. Ball was born March 28, 1958 in Topeka, Kansas, a son of David and Charlotte Martin Ball. Mr. Ball attended high school in Madrid, Spain, was a graduate of the Jacksonville High School in Jacksonville, Arkansas, and attended the Art Institute of Atlanta. Mr. Ball was a former member of the West Rome Baptist Church and a current member of the North Broad Baptist Church. Mr. Ball was married to the former Ida Wright, but was preceded in death by her in October of 2007. He was also preceded by his paternal grandparents, Arthur and Annie Ball, and by his maternal grandparents Joe and Pluma Martin. Mr. Ball is survived by his parents, David and Charlotte Ball, by his brother, Michael Ball, and by his sister-in-law Nanci Casto-Ball, all of Rome. One niece, Charlotte Elizabeth Ball of the Bronx, New York, New York; his uncle, William Martin, and his aunt, LaRae Tate Martin, both of Cave Spring also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Ball were held Monday, April 25, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at John House’s Cave Spring Chapel Funeral Home with Dr. Jarrod Roberts and Rev. Ken Oats officiating. Interment followed in the family lot of the Cave Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers included Drew Martin, Blake Martin, Trae Martin, Phillip Ball, Eddie McAfee and Harold Buffington. The family received friends at the funeral home Monday from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour.
