Mr. Walter Vann Angel

Mr. Walter Vann Angel, 54, of Rocky Hollow Road, Cave Spring, died Tuesday morning, March 15, 2016 in an Atlanta hospital following declining health. A native of Floyd County, Mr. Angel was born in Rome July 4, 1961, a son of the late John Walter “Bill” Angel, Jr., and the late Otha Mae Lewis Angel. Mr. Angel was a graduate of Cave Spring High School, Berry College, and Southern Tech where got a degree in surveying. Mr. Angel and his brother operated Angel Land Surveyors, and for a number of years he was the official Land Surveyor of Polk County. A member of the Rehoboth Baptist Church, Mr. Angel was a member of Compassionate Paws of Rome, and a former member of the Georgia Survey and Mapping Association. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Ellen Ruth Angel. Survivors include his wife, the former Laurie Lasseter, to whom he was married August 20, 1982; one son, Eric Lewis Angel of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and one daughter, Elizabeth Reid Angel of Miami Shores, Florida. Two brothers, Wayne Angel and his wife Linda, and Elbert Angel and his wife Shelia all of Cave Spring; two sisters, Mrs. Jane Murray and her husband George, and Mrs. Marie Evans and her husband Greg, all of Cave Spring, and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Angel were held Friday morning, March 18, 2016, at 11:00 A. M. at the Rehoboth Baptist Church with Rev. John Fleming officiating. Interment followed in the family lot of the Rehoboth Community Cemetery. Pallbearers will included Dan Jones, Corey Youngblood, Craig Jones, Adam Dyer, Kent Dyer and Stephen Bottoms. The family received friends at John House’s Cave Spring Chapel Thursday evening, March 17, 2016, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. At other hours, they were at the residence of Jane and George Murray, Gadsden Road, Cave Spring. Flowers will be accepted, but those wishing may send memorials to the Rehoboth Community Cemetery Fund, 6 Rehoboth Road, Cave Spring, Georgia, 30124
