Mrs. Sharon Gilmore

January 24, 1945 ~ January 31, 2016 (age 71) 71 Years Old

Mrs. Sharon Gilmore, 71, of Cave Spring, died Sunday evening, January 31, 2016, in a Rome hospital following an extended illness. The former Sharon Faye Waits, Mrs. Gilmore was born January 24, 1945, a daughter of the late Doyce Waits and the late Thelma Baker Waits. Mrs. Gilmore was a member of the Grace Fellowship Baptist Church, and had served as pianist there and at Community Chapel Baptist Church and Live Oak Baptist Church. Mrs. Gilmore was retired from the Georgia Power Company as a Human Resource Specialist, and had also served as office manager for Dr. Sunay and Dr. Susan Bulter-Sumner. One of her greatest joys was vacationing in Florida with her grandchildren. Besides her parents, Mrs. Gilmore was preceded in death by three brothers, Scott Waits, Robert Waits, and Thurman Waits. Mrs. Gilmore is survived by her husband, Carl Joe Gilmore, Sr., to whom she was married, July 29, 1962 and by her son, Carl Joe Gilmore, Jr. and his wife Venita of Cedartown. Four grandchildren, Lauren Gilmore of Rome, Leanna Gilmore of Cave Spring, Jory McCown of Cedartown, and Haley McCown of Cedartown; one great-grandson Walker McCown; one brother, Sherman Waits of Rome; two sisters, Mrs. Glenda Couey of Rome and Mrs. Doris Brock of Rome and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Gilmore were held Thursday, February 4, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at John House’s Cave Spring Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Green officiating. Interment will follow in the Cave Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Allen Couey, Tim Couey, Ken Wilson, Jory McCown, Manley Casey and Jimmy Lowery. The family received friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening, February 3, 2016 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M.
